Workstation for Aerospace
Creform Corporation, a manufacturer of products for material handling, has designed and produced a workstation with an ergonomic lift system for an aerospace engine manufacturer.
The workstation has overall dimensions of 72″ W x 78″ H x 34″ D and is built with 42mm and 28mm pipe and joints. Secured inside each of the workstation’s four vertical legs is a hydraulic cylinder so its height can be varied to optimize the ergonomics for associates of different stature during its multi-shift operation.
As the lift is actuated, only the work surface and above move up and down leaving the base structure in place. It has a 1000 lb. capacity and 12 in. stroke. An electric push button raises and lowers the workstation. The system does require a 110 V receptacle to be close to provide power.
The workstation features a half inch plastic work surface across the front. This creates a place for product assembly, tools, gages, supplies and work instructions. Above the work surface on the right side, Creform’s flat pipe is used to conveniently hold clip-on plastic bins. While the shelf above right stores raw materials and supplies. The angled presentation provides better visibility to the operator.
A 16″ x 36″ steel pegboard on the left utilizes hooks and is an excellent way to hang tools and supplies. A 4-foot overhead LED light is mounted to the upper frame to provide light. Below the work surface on the right, a drawer pulls out for storage access. Additional drawers below the work surface on the left side provide easily accessible storage space. Each of the drawers has a plastic surface built in.
- The workstation pictured has four 5 in. diameter casters for ease of movement, as well as floor locks to secure it in place.
Workstations can be custom configurable with the Creform system of pipe and joints and can be built as a stand-up or a sit-down station. They are available as an assembled structure or kit with pre-cut pipes for quick on-site assembly and are suitable for both warehouse and manufacturing operations. Further, workstations can be mobile or stationary and are available with options such as drawers and shelves for storage, various pipe colors, casters instead of feet, tools and cup holders.
As with all Creform workstations, optional accessories include overhead light, computer screen, shelves, additional flow lanes, drawers, information sheet holders, label holders, tool storage, and hooks to hang tools and supplies. All Creform workstations can be configured for ESD components when sensitive electronics need to be protected.
The Creform system is used to create an array of material handling and efficiency enhancing devices and is a proven component in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing programs. The company partners with customers in developing and implementing these programs.
