Green Port Fair

See up close how the Port of Long Beach is working to become the world’s first zero-emissions seaport at the “Green Port Fair” from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.

The free event will feature the new “clean machines” of cargo movement, environmental information booths, a children’s train ride and other activities, ’80s and ’90s cover band Knyght Ryder, food, and a beer and wine garden.

The public is invited to spend the afternoon in the port, enjoying family-friendly displays, entertainment, fun and the opportunity to learn more about the nation’s second-busiest seaport.

“We welcome everyone to come by the Green Port Fair and see what we are doing every day to protect the community’s health and improve air quality by aiming to reduce and eventually eliminate all emissions,” said Port of Long Beach Executive Director Mario Cordero.

“This is an occasion for residents to learn about their port and see what we’ve been working on to improve air quality and safeguard the environment,” said Long Beach Harbor Commission President Sharon L. Weissman. “We are making international trade more environmentally sustainable and leading the industry toward a zero-emissions future.”

Attendees can find out about the port’s commitment to having a zero-emissions cargo-handling equipment fleet by 2030.

Among other booths, engineers will be on hand to explain how “America’s Green Gateway” – the Pier B On-Dock Support Rail Facility – will also help improve the environment even as trade grows in the coming decades. • The Green Port Fair will be held at the Port’s Maintenance Facility; free parking is available at the nearby Pier H, 1126 Queens Highway, Long Beach. Shuttles will take attendees to the event. All participants at port events must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
