TVH Builds Automated Storage and Retrieval System
TVH in the Americas (TVH), a provider of quality replacement parts and accessories for the material handling and industrial equipment industry, is building a new Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) at its Olathe warehouse.
It is designed to bring the product to the person rather than the person to the product. This automated system will not only benefit the company by maximizing their storage space but also benefit customers since it will speed up the order picking process and allow more orders to be filled in the same amount of time.
“After looking at different options we decided that a shuttle AS/RS gave us the greatest flexibility, the best space utilization, and the highest productivity at a reasonable cost over other options given our product lines and order configurations,” said Rod Strickland, TVH’s Operations Manager. “With this new system in place, it will be able to process 1,000 order lines per hour which doubles current capacity and output. Additionally, this system allows flexibility in the fulfillment and replenishment processes which in turn allows for later enhancements.”
TVH began construction of the new system in October 2016. The installation of the system structure is complete, moving the project to the next phase which includes installation of the mechanics and software. TVH is scheduled to go live with the new automation system in June 2017.
