Ace Supplies Custom Solution for Hazardous Environment at Battery Plant
Ace World Companies has received an order for two custom-built 17 ton overhead cranes and two 1 ton telescopic hoists for operation in a hazardous environment at a battery plant in New Johnsonville, Tennessee.
In line with the sustainable development approach of the Erachem group, the New Johnsonville plant implements processes that reduce emissions, while continuously working with suppliers and partners like Ace to develop ways to optimize yields and reduce energy consumption.
Ace’s Kevin Beavers, who is overseeing the sales process, said: “We are the most experienced custom hoist manufacturer in the world and can design and build specifically for any application with virtually no limit in capacity.”
He added: “Our customers embrace the principle that low cost of ownership is much more valuable than low initial cost at purchase. A customer depends on material handling products for a production process that contributes to the bottom line. Like all of our products, the cranes and hoists for Erachem Comilog are durable and easy to inspect and maintain in order to meet the customer’s criteria for reliability and efficiency of operation.”
With an annual output of 30,000 tons every year, the Erachem Comilog facility is the largest producer of electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) in North America, which is used as cathode for high quality alkaline batteries.
Ace has previously supplied two cranes for the plant. All cranes are specially designed and engineered for the hazardous working environment. Radio control technology will keep operators safe, while all electrical enclosures and floor grading will be made of fiberglass, a chemical-resistant substance chosen for many industrial applications.
The order is currently in the engineering stage ahead of a one-week installation process in October 2015. The custom package includes ongoing service and maintenance of the cranes to ensure Erachem can continue to operate at full capacity. Its New Johnsonville plant can supply product efficiently by truck, rail, barge or container ships due to its strategic location.
Beavers added: “Our hoists are engineered to be the most reliable and cost effective solution for our customers. We considered both Erachem’s short and long-term needs before identifying the design criteria and engineering a tailor-made solution. Every product we design must meet the critical issues of quality, durability, and ease of maintenance.”
Ace provides overhead bridge cranes, overhead gantry cranes, wire rope hoists, electric chain hoists, crane kits and end trucks. Visit the website at www.aceworldcompanies.com.
