Delta-Q Technologies Releases White Paper on Design Approach to Chargers
Delta-Q Technologies, a provider of power management and power conversion solutions to improve the performance and durability of electric drive vehicles and industrial equipment, has released a white paper in which it reveals how a new design approach to on-board chargers can result in higher reliability products at competitive costs for OEMs and boost productivity for end users.
The white paper stems from the development and durability testing of Delta-Q’s own IC650 Industrial Battery Charger—designed specifically to overcome challenges to on-board charger reliability—and sheds light on how OEMs can improve integration of on-board chargers into machines such as lift trucks, aerial work platforms and floor machines, while keeping costs down and highlights design tips including:
Make the charger small and sealed. Efficient power electronics can be packaged in a smaller enclosure and sealing the charger prevents components from damage by fluids or dirt.
Give the charger some space. Providing a sealed battery charger with space for convection air cooling will help it to operate better.
Make the charger’s display visible. The end user needs to understand when the charging cycle is completed.
