Double-Girder Cranes for Paper Mill
Konecranes is supplying Sofidel America, a leading global tissue paper producer, with three top-running double-girder cranes and runways for its new paper mill in Circleville, Ohio.
- The order was won in late September 2023 with deliveries scheduled in Q3 2024.
Sofidel is recognized for its strong commitment to sustainability and advanced technology in paper manufacturing and automation.
The cranes will be integral to Sofidel’s paper production and assist in the new mill’s equipment installation and commissioning. The equipment includes 45-ton, 20-ton, and 10-ton cranes tailored to Sofidel’s needs, supporting water extraction, paper fiber collection and spindle rolling, and providing backup support as needed.
“Konecranes‘ proven track record in the paper industry was a decisive factor for Sofidel, and their customizable overhead cranes will boost the reliability and repairability of the plant,” said Omer Ahmed, Spare Parts Technical Coordinator at Sofidel.
“As our clients increasingly seek material handling solutions to optimize productivity and reliability in fast-moving business environments, our Konecranes CXT hoisting platform provides customers with a multitude of safe hoisting feature options that they can customize for their specific lifting applications, ultimately improving productivity and safety,” said Andy Pulfer, Sales Consultant, Industrial Cranes, Konecranes.
The cranes also feature load control capabilities, such as Hoist Synchronization for coordinated actions between two cranes, and an Extended Speed Range (ESR) system, allowing faster hoist speeds with lighter or no loads to enhance productivity.
All cranes are equipped with TRUCONNECT Remote Monitoring, facilitating the collection of condition, usage, and operating data for maintenance planning and predicting possible component or equipment failures.
A strong focus on customers and commitment to business growth and continuous improvement make Konecranes a lifting industry leader. This is underpinned by investments in digitalization and technology, plus our work to make material flows more efficient with solutions that decarbonize the economy and advance circularity and safety.
