Intelligrated Prepares Demo as MODEX Opens in Atlanta
Intelligrated, an automated material handling solutions provider, will present a dynamic demonstration of its goods-to-robot picking capabilities from Booth 2747 at MODEX 2016 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta this week (4-7 April).
To fully automate the order fulfillment process, the solution integrates Intelligrated’s AS/RS shuttle technology with an articulated robotic arm. The shuttle system retrieves totes and delivers them to a robotic arm equipped with vision technology and suction end-of-arm tooling to identify and handle individual items.
Designed with flexibility to handle the high volumes of individual orders common in e-commerce fulfillment operations, the solution offers productivity and accuracy advantages over manual processes. It allows operations to adapt to changing order profiles and manage SKU proliferation while redeploying labor resources to more value-added tasks.
“Distribution and fulfillment operations are always under pressure to find the most efficient method to meet customer service level demands and find a competitive edge,” said Matt Wicks, vice president, product development, manufacturing systems.
“Demonstrating this solution at MODEX allows attendees to see firsthand how the integration of shuttles and robotic technology enables them to optimize labor utilization and bring the benefits of automation to fulfillment processes.”
