KION North America Launches KION NA Cares Initiative
This year, KION North America has implemented a new corporate social responsibility initiative called KION NA Cares. The goal and purpose of this initiative are to demonstrate a high level of commitment to improving the community and sustaining the environment.
KION NA Cares focuses on three segments: education and workplace development; safety and environmental sustainability; and building a stronger community.
On April 13, KION NA Cares participated in its first event—a beach clean-up at Folly Beach County Park in collaboration with the South Carolina Aquarium and Charleston County Parks. Over the course of two hours, a team of 20 employees collected 229 pieces of trash and built 450 linear feet of fence around the sand dunes.
“Corporate social responsibility extends beyond the four walls of our facility in Summerville,” said David Brown, director of human resources at KION North America. “Our intent with the KION NA Cares initiative is to give our employees the opportunity to be stewards of their community.”
Future KION NA Cares events are already scheduled including volunteer teams to serve at the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston and Lowcountry Food Bank, as well as a stuff-the-truck event to benefit Dorchester Habitat for Humanity.
