National Oilwell Varco Inspectors Receive Training
Inspectors at NOV Tuboscope, part of National Oilwell Varco’s Wellbore Technologies segment, received training from the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) over a two-week period at its Houston, Texas facility recently.
Andrew Wright, learning and development manager at LEEA, delivered Part 1 Entrance Certificate and Lifting Equipment General Diploma courses to a number of inspectors representing the member company.
He said: “It is always a pleasure to deliver training to our members across the world, in particular to see the process of learning taking place and the confidence of the delegates improving day by day.”
Casey Picard, SIS divisional manager at NOV Tuboscope, said: “LEEA is very important to our organization. Since we are a service company, this training provides us with a competitive advantage and competent personnel. All inspectors gave positive feedback about the training.”
Wellbore Technologies integrates people, products, and technology to help NOV customers reach new levels of efficiency and productivity, enhancing drilling performance at the rig, both on and offshore.
Wright reported that the training was very enjoyable and the team from NOV Tuboscope were fully committed and engaged in the training program. He said: “I’m sure that our members at NOV and their customers will benefit from the additional skills and knowledge gained by the NOV inspectors and I wish Casey and his team every success in the future. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Casey and his team for the generous hospitality I received during my visit to Houston.”
Picard concluded: “Andrew is very knowledgeable with lifting gear. Our U.S. division had been working with LEEA for four years but other divisions of the company have been involved longer than that. As our business and personnel numbers grow, LEEA will be back to train new and existing staff.”
