Automated Mobile Inspection Table
Jervis B. Webb Company, a subsidiary of Daifuku North America Holding Company and a provider of airport baggage handling systems, has launched an automated Mobile Inspection Table (MIT) improving the efficiency and ergonomics in the TSA Checked Baggage Resolution Area (CBRA).
The MIT utilizes the SmartCart Automatic Guided Cart (AGC) technology, providing a customized solution for optimal flexibility and improved workspace conditions. SmartCart AGCs are a quiet, safe, and scalable approach to the CBRA room.
The MIT SmartCart AGC offers a “goods to person” ergonomics approach. The MIT delivers the bag directly to the TSA agent, eliminating any lifting, twisting, or turning. The bag is searched directly on the MIT’s stainless steel surface and routed automatically back to the appropriate conveyor system after inspection.
The MIT provides many benefits over traditional conveyor based CBRAs including improved ergonomics, flexibility, productivity, room accessibility, noise reduction, and space reduction. Energy usage is reduced compared to traditional conveyor operations by utilizing the MIT.
“The impact of the MIT in CBRA rooms is a first of its kind. The new CBRA design and operations represents one of the ultimate advancements since the conception of CBRA rooms,” said Rob Schmit, president of Jervis B. Webb Company. “We are proud of our dedicated engineers who continue to deliver innovative systems that improve airport operations and the overall travel experience for passengers.”
Jervis B. Webb Company will be exhibiting at the 15th Annual AAAE/TSA/DHA Aviation Security Summit December 9-10 in Arlington, Virginia.
