cromox Lifting Points, Eye Screws
Ketten Wälder GmbH has featured a variety of cromox stainless steel lifting points and swivel eye screws for lifting and working at height in its latest catalogue — published this month (March). They are suited to use in cleanrooms, demanding and even corrosive environments.
Ketten Wälder, established in 1948, set-up cromox, a premium stainless steel brand, approximately 17 years ago. The cromox range includes chains, chain slings, load hooks, shackles, chain hoists, and hoist trolleys. However, lifting points are one of the most important components in the industry because they connect lifting equipment to the load.
The new catalogue features swivel lifting points, weld-on lifting points, and swivel lifting eye screws — all in Grade 60 Duplex steel. Swivel, bolt-on, or boltable lifting points are selected when a threaded hole is present, but often a weld-on or weldable solution is permanently attached to a load. In other words, if there are no holes and the load material can be used for welding, weld-on lifting points are often used.
Roman Auer, chief technical director at Ketten Wälder, said: “The catalogue, like the cromox lifting points and eye screws, is based on the cornerstones of a business that has been family-owned for generations. The cromox range is innovative and durable, suited to use even in nautical environments. We continue to specialise in customer-oriented solutions for cleanrooms and other challenging industries. Once again, this publication, and the products within it, set the benchmark worldwide.”

Ketten Wälder GmbH has featured a variety of cromox stainless steel lifting points in its new catalogue.
Eight models of male swivel lifting points are detailed in the catalogue, ranging from 0.5t to 10t working load limit (WLL); the smallest is type CDAW-05 and the largest CDAW-10. Thread lengths vary from 15mm up to 72mm, but special lengths are available on request. Each swivel lifting point offers 360° rotation, adjustable in any load direction; flattened section for combination with clevis shackles; and screw secured at ring-body to prevent loss. They are tested to EN 1677-1; safety factor 4. All parts are 100% crack inspected. Seven female versions span the same capacity range. The catalogue also showcases seven weld-on lifting points, again, manufactured from Grade 60 Duplex steel. The smallest, the CSAG-05, is 0.5t capacity; and the largest, the CSAG-10, is 10t capacity.
The Grade 60 Duplex cromox swivel eye screws (CDS) range in capacity from 0.5 to 2t capacity. Four types are 0.5t capacity; four types 1t capacity; and one type 2t capacity. They offer 360° rotation and are adjustable in any load direction. Other features include high fatigue resistance; ring-body and screw are 100% crack inspected; and the screw is secured at ring-body.
The swivel eye screws are also approved and certified as personal protective equipment (PPE); this product line is called the CDS-PSA. They are tested to DIN EN 795, DIN CEN/TS 16415, and DIN EN 50308. Four types in this line are for protection of a maximum of two people; and a further four are for three people. As with all lifting points and eye screws for lifting and working at height, AISI 318LN Duplex ensures superior corrosion resistance, even in the most demanding environments.

The swivel eye screws are also approved and certified as personal protective equipment.
Auer added: “The standard ranges of these products will meet and exceed the requirements of most applications, but we continue to welcome demand for special applications, whether that be for bespoke sizes or thread lengths, for example.”
