Terex Utilities has announced the next generation of a zero-emissions bucket truck for the electric utility industry, to be displayed at NTEA Work Truck Week March 4-7, 2025, in Indianapolis, IN.

Terex Utilities, a market leader in fleet electrification for the utility industry, has partnered with Mack Trucks, Inc. to deliver a bucket truck that boasts enhanced range and more payload than other electric chassis available today.

• The truck will be featured in Mack booth #3123 at the Indiana Convention Center during Work Truck Week.

Terex installed its Optima HR55 aerial device powered by the HyPowerTM SmartPTO by Viatec on the Mack MD7 Electric chassis to deliver a zero-emissions utility truck that can drive farther and haul more cargo.

Preliminary testing revealed the Terex all-electric bucket truck with the Mack MD7 Electric chassis has up to 1.5-times enhanced range capabilities compared to other Class 6/7 medium duty electric chassis bucket rucks, with double the payload capacity on the rear axle.

The Terex aerial device, powered by the SmartPTO, operates independent of the Mack MD7 Electric chassis which helps to ease range anxiety and allows utility crews to operate the boom and outriggers for a normal workday without taking away charge from the chassis.

The all-electric truck is also equipped with the cutting-edge 3rd Eye digital platform, seamlessly integrating advanced camera systems, AI, and industry-leading technology to maximize safety and productivity. With up to six HD cameras displayed on a spacious 7-inch in-cab monitor, the system provides a complete, real-time view of the vehicle’s surroundings, significantly reducing blind spots when reversing, changing lanes, or operating in tight or high-traffic areas.

Terex introduced the industry’s first all-electric bucket truck in 2022, with an Optima 55-foot aerial mounted on an International eMV. Dozens of Terex all-electric bucket trucks are being used by utility crews throughout North America.

• The new Mack all-electric unit provides another option for electric utility customers looking for a zero-emissions solution. A limited supply of these trucks will be available in 2025, with a standard delivery of 12-18 months.
